If your business would like to accept online payments in the form of a credit card or eCheck through inly, users have the ability to pass a credit card surcharge depending on the federal, state, and county laws governing their place of business. Specific parameters regarding compliance information are detailed below.

Important Information Regarding Surcharges

Credit card surcharge rules may vary by state, regulatory, or card network rules.

Please touch base with your local government or a tax professional for further guidance on whether surcharges are permitted in your specific location and what steps are needed to ensure you are in compliance with the laws governing your area of business.

Surcharging is not permitted and is illegal in some States and jurisdictions such as, the EU and the UK.

It is inly users responsibility to meet all legal and card network requirements, including notifying both Visa and MasterCard that they will be applying a surcharge to their credit card transactions.

How to allow a credit card payment and enable a credit card surcharge

While creating an invoice, there will be an option to select the "payment methods" your business would like to accept. After inputing the charges, and customizing your payment schedule, you will then be presented with multiple payment methods that you can select to offer your client(s).

Click on "credit card" to enable this payment method and then click the slider below to "pass the fee" which, will initiate the surcharge for this payment method.

The client view will display that a credit card payment includes a surcharge and will auto-calculate this percentage for them to see before paying.
