Generate your Inly API Key
To connect Inly to Zapier, you’ll generate an API key from your Inly account.
Log in to Inly
Go to Settings
Open Connected Apps and select Zapier
Click Get Business Token
Copy your key and store it somewhere secure
🔐 Security note: Your API key provides access to your account data. Keep it private and regenerate it if you believe it has been shared.
Connect Inly to Zapier
Once you have your API key, you can connect Inly inside Zapier.
In Zapier, create a new Zap
Choose Inly as the trigger app
When prompted, paste your Inly API Key
Click Continue to finish connecting your account
Supported Inly Triggers in Zapier
Below are the triggers currently available for Inly in Zapier.
Client Created (client_created)
Fires when a new client/contact record is created in Inly.
Common automations:
Create a contact in Google Contacts
Add a row to Google Sheets
Notify your team in Slack
Event Created (event_created)
Fires when a new event is created under a client in Inly.
Common automations:
Create a Google Calendar event
Create tasks in Notion/Asana
Post a Slack notification
Project Booked (project_booked)
Fires when a flow is sent and the project is booked.
Common automations:
Start an onboarding checklist
Create a project folder in Google Drive
Post an internal “Booked!” alert
Inquiry Created (inquiry_created)
Fires when a new lead form is submitted via Inly.
Common automations:
Send a lead notification email
Add lead details to a CRM spreadsheet
Create a follow-up task
Payment Received (payment_received)
Fires when a payment is marked as completed in Inly.
Common automations:
Notify your accountant
Send a “Payment received” Slack message
Update a record in Airtable
Troubleshooting
My Zap isn’t triggering
Confirm you selected the correct trigger event in Zapier
Make sure your API key is still valid (try regenerating it)
Create a new test item in Inly (e.g., submit a test inquiry) and retest the trigger in Zapier
I think my API key was exposed
Regenerate your API key in Settings → Integrations → Zapier, then update the connection in Zapier.
Next steps
Once your trigger is working, choose an action app (Slack, Gmail, Sheets, Notion, etc.) and finish building your Zap.
