Why does my client see "This account cannot currently make live charges"?

What to do when a client's payment is blocked because your Stripe account activation is incomplete

Written by Inly Team

If a client tries to pay an invoice and sees an error that says "This Connect account cannot currently make live charges", it means your Stripe account is connected to Inly but has not finished Stripe's activation process, so Stripe is not yet allowing live payments.

Why this happens

Connecting Stripe to Inly links the two accounts, but Stripe separately requires you to complete your account activation — confirming your business and identity details and adding a bank account for payouts. Until that is done, Stripe blocks all live charges, and your clients will see this error at checkout.

How to fix it

1. In Inly, go to "Settings" → "Business Settings" → "Payment Settings" and click "View Stripe Account" (or log in directly at dashboard.stripe.com).

2. Look for the activation banner or the "Complete your profile" prompt and finish any outstanding requirements Stripe lists — typically business details, identity verification, and a bank account.

3. Once submitted, Stripe's verification usually completes within a few minutes.

After your account is activated, your clients can simply retry the payment — nothing is lost, and no charge was made during the failed attempt.
